The fitness sport with the walking-poles is no longer just a trend. Around five million people in Germany are true fans, and participate regularly in this unique sport in the great outdoors. For those that would like to learn how to train correctly or more efficiently with the walking-poles, the Steigenberger Parkhotel Dresden-Radebeul has contacts to experienced trainers who will be willing to help you.
The river Elbe flows around 35 km in the rural district of “Meissen”, and almost all sections of the river offer a walking track. While walking through the picturesque Elb valley with your poles, you will pass by the beautiful vineyards of the "Lößnitz”, offering magnificent views of the historical buildings "Friedensburg” and “Spitzhaus”. After passing “Closwig”, you will arrive in “Brockwitz”, which has a beautiful village church. The tour then continues past the 182 m high "Boselsitze” and further on to the handcrafters village of “Sörnewitz”. Behind “Meissen” you will walk through typical Elb landscapes; a combination of vineyards and quarries lead you to the Elb wine villages of “Diesbar-Seußlitz”.
On the “Saxony Wine Walking Tour” (“Sächsischen Weinwanderweg”), you will start on a 15 km track that leads you from Radebeul across the hilly vineyards. After passing the wineries: “Warttürmen”, “Schlössern” and “Winzerhöfen”, you will continue on to “Niederau” and the “Wasserschloss Oberau” (moated castle) from the 13th century. For those that require tips from a professional, we will gladly book a training session and organise all the equipment required, if necessary.
